New Jersey finally began to see relief as FEMA set up several new emergency centers for counties most affected by flooding. Bound Brook will host one of six FEMA relief centers throughout the state. It's designed to be a one-stop-shop where victims can meet with FEMA workers as well as state representatives, volunteer agencies and even attorneys who will provide their services free of charge. For residents who say they've lost nearly everything, it's a slice of hope. Maryann Cremer, of Bound Brook, says, ?I have about four foot of water on my first floor. I lost everything, everything that I own.? FEMA spokesperson Lafe Skoogfors explained some of the qualifying factors for residents, including income level, amount of damage and insurance coverage. FEMA recommends that residents appeal if they are denied coverage. They also advise residents to approach other volunteer agencies and consider filing for a low-interest loan with the Small Business Association. The centers will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. FEMA asks residents to call and register to get on a list for a housing inspector to come to their homes.
