A 60-year-old man was fatally struck by car at the intersection of Bruckner Boulevard and Castle Hill Avenue, according to officials.
Authorities say a 33-year-old woman driving south on Castle Hill Avenue in a Jeep struck the man as he was crossing the street.
He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and pronounced dead. Pedestrians told News 12 that the tragedy comes as no surprise.
"We're in a city where impatient people have to be somewhere at a certain time and now people on the street got to pay for that," said Matthew Boyd, a Castle Hill resident.
City data, most recently updated in October, shows that almost 100 pedestrians have died in traffic crashes this year.
Police say the driver remained at the scene and no arrests were made.
