The Food and Drug Administration is conducting an on-site investigation at a distribution company in Ecuador.
The agency traced cinnamon that is suspected of sickening dozens of children to a company called Negsmart there.
The cinnamon was used in applesauce pouches made by Austrofoods.
It was sold under the brand names WanaBana, Weis. and Schnucks in the U.S.
Investigators believe the problem is contamination from lead.
