The FBI says a Lawrenceville man was arrested two weeks ago for making threats of launching jihad in the United States.
Kareem Nasr, 23, was detained in Kenya after his social media posts indicate he traveled there to support the terrorist organization Al-Shabaab, according to FBI officials. The posts expressed a desire to receive military training.
Nasr was taken into custody before he could travel to Somalia to join the terrorist group, authorities say.
The FBI says Nasr was inspired by the Oct. 7 Hamas attack to support terrorism.
If convicted, Nasr could face 20 years in prison.
