Authorities say a 55-year-old man is facing charges after he let his 13-year-old child drive a van that crashed and overturned last week in Morris County.
Police say they received a report of an overturned van in Boonton Township last week and arrived to find the van against a tree off the side of the road. The man and teen escaped from the vehicle by crawling out the back window and weren't seriously hurt.
The father was charged with allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a motor vehicle, failure to wear a seat belt and having an unregistered vehicle.
Boonton Township police didn't immediately identify the man.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
