The family of an animal control officer who was shot and killed on a Newark street is looking for answers.
It's not yet known if Alvis Carrington was on duty when he was shot around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of Wainwright Street. The 43-year-old city resident was pronounced dead a short time later.
A possible motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.
No other injuries were reported in the incident.
The shooting is under investigation by Newark police and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
No arrests have been made.
