Two Brazilian family members of Sean Goldman appeared on CBS's "The Early Show" Tuesday to make their case that the New Jersey-born boy should stay in Brazil.
Sean is the son of David Goldman, of Tinton Falls, who has been trying for years to bring the boy back to the U.S. after his ex-wife took him to her native Brazil. Sean's maternal grandmother and stepfather appeared on the show to say the boy is happy living with them.
On Sunday and Monday, CBS aired promotions of an interview with Sean where the boy reportedly said he wanted to stay in Brazil. The interview, however, did not appear alongside those with Sean's family members.
According to Goldman's lawyer, Patricia Apy, showing the piece with the 9-year-old boy would violate an order issued by a Brazilian judge. Representatives from CBS say the decision to pull Sean's interview was an editorial one.
In May, an appeal prevented Goldman from returning to New Jersey with his son. A Brazilian judge told Goldman he could have custody of the boy in Brazil six days a week, but Goldman has yet to accept the offer. Apy says Goldman is concerned about making Sean live out of a hotel for most of the week.
