Relatives of the Long Island murder victims held a vigil today in Oak Beach to mark the one-year anniversary of the gruesome discoveries.
It was a year ago today that police discovered the first three sets of human remains along Ocean Parkway on Long Island.
Authorities eventually uncovered 10 sets of remains, in addition to what is believed to be the remains of New Jersey woman Shannan Gilbert, which were found this morning.
Today, families released balloons into the sky near the spots where their loved ones' remains were found.
