FAA: Plane engine catches fire from bird strike after aborted takeoff at Atlantic City International Airport

A bird strike caused a Spirit Airlines plane to be evacuated on the runway of the Atlantic City International Airport, the FAA says.

A bird strike caused a Spirit Airlines plane to be evacuated on the runway of the Atlantic City International Airport, the FAA says.
The agency says the engine caught fire as a result and it happened as the plane was speeding up for takeoff just before 6 p.m. Saturday.
All passengers were taken off the plane. Spirit Airlines says everyone was taken back to the terminal after the plane came to a stop.
The plane was going to Fort Lauderdale.
