STORM WATCH: Steady rain and a thunderstorm can slow travel Saturday afternoon
There will just be a few spotty rain showers overnight, but the rain will become steadier for several hours Saturday afternoon ahead of more scattered showers Sunday afternoon.

Overnight will be mostly cloudy with a few spotty light rain showers. Low temperatures will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s into early Saturday morning.
WET AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND
As you continue to wrap up any Mother's Day preparations or do anything on Long Island Saturday, keep in mind that it will be pretty wet in the afternoon and early evening hours. In the morning, it will be a cool start with clouds and a few spotty light rain showers.
After 1 p.m., there will be an increasing chance for an area of moderate to heavy rain with an isolated thunderstorm moving across Long Island from west to east through around 8 p.m. before exiting the East End around that time. Nassau County and western Suffolk County will begin to dry out earlier, after 5 p.m.
Remember, even though rain on Mother's Day weekend is far from ideal, Long Island still needs multiple rounds of beneficial rain, with western Nassau County and Eastern Suffolk County still dealing with a moderate drought. There is a chance for half an inch to an inch and a half of rain on Saturday alone.
Sunday morning will start with clouds and some fog, but the morning will also feature some breaks of sunshine. Morning and early afternoon plans should be fine outdoors, but there will be an increasing chance for more scattered showers after around 2 p.m. or 3 p.m. It will be a warmer day, too, with high temperatures in the upper 60s to the mid-70s. SUNDAY: MOTHER'S DAY - Cloudy with areas of fog to start the morning. Then, some hints of mid-morning sunshine. There will be more spotty showers that move through any time after 2 p.m. Highs - warmer - around 72 degrees. Lows near 49 degrees.
