Explosions rocked a Paterson salvage operation Friday and unleashed a blaze that injured two workers, sending one to the hospital with facial burns.
Firefighters followed plumes of smoke to CFS, a salvage yard specializing in Camaros and Firebirds, where fire officials say explosions were caused by acetylene and oxygen tanks used for torch operations. Racks of auto parts and dismantled cars then fueled the inferno.
Harold Poe, a witness, saw a 55-gallon drum rocket high into the air before plummeting down to earth.
"I thought it was a Bruce Willis movie," Poe said. "I thought it was Die Hard."
Fire officials said the two men injured in the mayhem did not suffer life-threatening wounds.
Arson investigators in the shop Friday said they do know the two men were taking a car apart with a torch when the explosions started.
