The entire police department in Camden could soon be laid off.
The layoff of the 270 police officers is part of a plan to increase police presence in the city, and make way for a new county-run force.
Published reports indicate less than half of the city's existing officers would be allowed to join what's being called the Camden Metro Police Division.
It's expected to have 400 officers.
