The nurses at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center are back on the job Thursday after more than a month on strike.

The 660 nurses had been walking the picket line on Engel Street since June 29. The nurses, who are part of the Health Professionals and Allied Employees union, were on strike for staffing and pension issues.

While nurses maintain the main reason for striking was to reduce the nurse-to-patient ratio, hospital officials say the main sticking point was a pension plan. Both sides, however, did finally agree on a three-year contract, which includes a small wage increase.
