More than 30 different agencies took part in New Jersey Transit's emergency drill at the Montclair State University train station Sunday.
First responders from local, county and state levels practiced responding to a mass-casualty incident. The simulation involved hundreds of responders racing to the scene of a staged train derailment and garage fire.
Officials say the drill is intended to help fire and rescue crews practice and train for a worst-case scenario.
The drill was coordinated in part by New Jersey Transit police and the Office of Emergency Management. Crews from four northern New Jersey counties took part in the exercise.
