The mayor of Edison jumped into action when he learned that a number of residents were stuck in Israel when the war against Hamas broke out.
Mayor Sam Joshi says he believes there were around 30 Edison residents in Israel when the attacks began. He says he immediately reached out to friends in higher levels of government about what was happening.
"My concern was actually to find out how many Edison families or Edison residents were traveling in the region," says Joshi. "These were families that were traveling there for weddings. These were families that were traveling there during a very religious time. And again, I just wanted to make sure that our Edison families come home."
Joshi says he has been told that all town residents have returned home safely.
