East Brunswick has rescinded
its COVID-19 vaccination requirement for city workers.
Mayor Brad Cohen says he decided
to backtrack after the CDC said the virus can be spread by both the vaccinated
and unvaccinated. He made the announcement during Monday
night's Township Council meeting.
But he did urge everyone
to still get a shot, saying the only people the unvaccinated put at greater
risk are themselves.
Mayor Cohen originally implemented
the policy via an administrative order. Municipal workers would have had until Sept.
30 to provide proof of vaccination.
