(AP) - An East Orange man has been sentenced to life in prison plus 15 years for the brutal murder of a New JerseyInstitute of Technology student two years ago.
Twenty-two-year-old Shaun Clifton-Short also received a separatesentence of 37 years for beating two other people the day after themurder.
Anant Kaura had come to the U.S. from India to study for hismaster's degree in computer science and was moonlighting as a gasstation attendant in Orange when he was killed in January 2007. Hewas 22.
Authorities say during an attempted robbery Clifton-Short struckKaura 15 times in the face and head with a hammer. They say he andcousin Anthony Short robbed a Dunkin' Donuts in East Orange thenext day and beat a clerk and maintenance man.
Anthony Short is serving a 22-year sentence.
