Icing during the night has
created dangerous roads conditions today, especially in the southern parts of
New Jersey.
Drivers at the Cheesequake rest stop in South Amboy say they were relieved to
see trucks salting the main roads, but are still preparing for slippery
conditions.
Hackensack resident JoAnn Caruso says roads were mainly clear in the area.
“Everything looks good here so we were pleasantly surprised,” Caruso says. “We
were going slow so the roads look good, coming up this way, we saw a lot of the
trucks out throwing down the salt, which is a good thing.”
Black ice on front stairs, sidewalks, driveways and roadways are still a
concern.
Drivers and pedestrians should be careful and assume all surfaces have not been
salted.
