The driver of a van that lost control on a road in Paterson and killed a woman at a bus stop is now facing several charges, including death by auto and leaving the scene of a deadly crash.
Prosecutors say Jose Tremols-Acosta, 62, of Paterson, was driving the van that jumped the sidewalk at Rosa Parks Boulevard and Broadway on Thursday afternoon.
News 12 was told the suspect was driving at a high speed and swerving, crossing double yellow lines when the van ended up on the sidewalk. The crash killed the woman and critically injured an 83-year-old man. The woman who died has not been identified.
Prosecutors say Tremols-Acosta ran from the scene but was arrested a short time later.
