Driver going wrong way fatally strikes man in the Bronx, police say
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released his name.

A man was struck and killed by a driver going the wrong way in the Tremont section of the Bronx early Monday morning, police said.
The crash happened around 5:55 a.m. near East Tremont and Park avenues.
Police said their preliminary investigation shows a white car was heading north in the southbound lane of Park Avenue as it approached East Tremont Avenue. The driver struck the man and left the scene.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not released his name.
Abraham, who has lived in the neighborhood for five years, said the impact threw the man a considerable distance.
“The car was coming from over here, according to the detectives, and he got impacted on the corner and he flew all the way to over here,” Abraham said. “You see, that is far.”
Shattered glass remained on a parked car that neighbors believe the man landed on after he was hit.
Betty Stowe, who has lived in the neighborhood for seven years, said the crash is shocking to hear.
“It’s sad. It’s very, very sad,” Stowe said. “These drivers out here, they’re crazy. They’re really crazy drivers out here.”
Police are looking for the white car and the person who was driving it. The investigation is continuing.
