Linden police officer seriously injured in motorcycle crash during funeral procession

A Linden police officer was seriously injured Monday when he was involved in a motorcycle crash while participating in a funeral procession, according to the Linden Police Department.
The crash happened shortly before 11 a.m. as the officer was traveling south on Roselle Street on a marked police motorcycle. Police said he was involved in a collision with a Ford van that was entering a private driveway.
The officer was taken to University Hospital in Newark with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The van driver was not injured.
Police said Roselle Street was closed between Ziegler and Elizabeth avenues following the crash and asked drivers to avoid the area.
