An overturned tanker carrying gas caught fire on Route 195 in Howell Township Thursday.
The accident occurred near Route 34. State police say the driver died in the fire. His identity has not yet been released.
The fire departments responding to the scene are allowing the flames to burn out to minimize the environmental impact.
A small amount of gas has spilled into a nearby creek. The EPA is working to contain the spill.
Authorities are conducting a criminal investigation of the accident.
