Dolphins sightings are being reported in several Monmouth County bodies of water.
Many residents and visitors have gathered to catch a glimpse of the animals in places like the Navesink River and Red Bank?s Marine Park.
The sightings, however, have some people concerned that the animals could get trapped and not make it back into the ocean.
A similar scenario played out in 2008, when local wildlife experts wanted to steer the dolphins out of local waters but weren?t permitted to by federal wildlife officials. Several of the dolphins eventually washed up along the riverbank. Some thought construction noise on the Highlands Bridge was to blame for the dolphin?s retreat.
Construction on that bridge is now complete. Experts hope the dolphins will make their way safely back into the ocean.
