As the summer temperatures climbed Wednesday, many residents scrambled to keep cool.
Temperatures are expected to stay in the 90s throughout the rest of the week. News 12 New Jersey?s John Bathke spent the day in Roosevelt Park to find out how people were faring and to see just how high the temps reached.
Depending on what it was held against, an infrared thermometer read temperatures well into the 100s. Bathke?s blue jacket registered 107 degrees, while his lavender shirt registered 89 degrees. The sidewalk also registered a whopping 113 degrees.
Many who spent time outdoors said the heat was hot, humid and uncomfortable. Some tried to stay cool in the shade at Roosevelt Park in Edison. Others drank plenty of water to stay hydrated.
