Through the power of teamwork and FaceTime, one doctor helped deliver a baby from miles away.
Keyanna Rivera went to her doctor's office in Newark Thursday morning and within 20 minutes, she began going into labor. Her doctor, Meena Devalla, was wrapping up a surgery at Clara Maas Hospital in Belleville and couldn't be there for the delivery.
It was up to a team of medical assistants and Dr. Devalla giving instructions over FaceTime to help deliver the baby.
Dr. Devalla has delivered 400 babies over the last decade, but this was the first one that required the use of an iPhone and FaceTime.
Rafael Tariq Rivera weighed in at 7 pounds, 10 ounces. His mother delivered him with no pain medication.
