A massive street takeover brought traffic to a standstill in Clifton early Sunday as about 100 cars and hundreds of people flooded River Road near Route 21.

Police say drivers wearing ski masks were street racing, and many of the vehicles either had no license plates or had them covered up.

Officers moved in to break up the gathering and made several arrests.

Among those arrested were 21-year-old Khiri Summers and 22-year-old Erick Mendez, both of Monmouth Junction. Police say both men are facing weapons charges.
