A garbage truck struck a telephone pole, causing a diesel spill behind a strip mall in Matawan early Monday morning.
Police say the crash happened around 5:58 a.m. near 305 Broad St.
The impact damaged the truck and caused about 10 gallons of diesel fuel to leak onto the property.
No injuries were reported.
The Matawan Fire Department and Monmouth County HAZMAT were able to contain the spill.
