The New Jersey Devils held a Fan Appreciation Night at the Prudential Center ahead of the team’s game against Buffalo.
“It’s been one of the most exciting seasons in recent memory,” said fan Matt Ventolo, of Brick Township.
The Devils will enter the NHL playoffs next week. The excitement among fans is apparent from head to toe.
Fan Perrin DeFreitas, of Roselle Park showed off his Devils-inspired tattoo.
“I have all the retired jerseys,” he said. “Marty [Brodeur], [Patrik] Elias, [Scott] Niedermayer.”
The Devils have been building this team for years. And next week it will be determined if they are worthy of playing for the Stanley Cup.
“Being an older fan, remember the ‘90s. It’s good to see the playoffs again,” Ventolo said.
But now a new generation of fans wants the same feeling.
“I’m going to be freaking out. It’s real. It’s happening,” another fan said.
The Devils defeated Buffalo 4-2 Tuesday night. It was the team’s 51st win this season, tying a franchise record.
