Demonstrators gathered at the
Bergen County Courthouse Tuesday seeking justice after 11 people were arrested in December
during a protest demanding freedom for immigrants on hunger strike at the
county jail.
Demonstrators are asking the
Bergen County prosecutor to drop all charges against protesters who say they
were treated unfairly.
"He dragged me out of the car with no warrant and no warrant was
made until I was processed into jail already in a jail cell,” says
Lizbeth Vazquez, of Yonkers. “My
family, my friends, my community were put under so much stress. They had to
work hard because the prosecutor wanted to hold me indefinitely."
Protesters claim police pushed and assaulted them.
