(AP) - A federal jury has found former northern New Jersey political boss Joseph Ferriero guilty of fraud conspiracy.
The panel returned its verdict Thursday, the third day ofdeliberations after a 2½-week trial.
Ferriero, the former head of the Bergen County DemocraticOrganization, was convicted on one count of conspiracy to defraudand two counts of mail fraud.
He was acquitted on five other mail fraud counts.
The indictment stemmed from a consulting business Ferriero ownedwith former Bergenfield borough attorney Dennis Oury.
Prosecutors said the two men conspired to defraud the town ofBergenfield by hiding Oury's co-ownership in the business whenseeking a contract with the town.
Oury pleaded guilty and testified against Ferriero.
