Boat dealers are offering big rebates to entice recession-weary consumers into making a purchase at the New Jersey Boat Show.
The boat show runs through Sunday at the New Jersey Convention Center in Edison. While many are reluctant to make such a big-ticket purchase, dealers are saying the number of sellers make now the perfect to time to climb aboard.
?There?s some fantastic value here because everyone?s looking to sell a boat,? says salesman Rich Mickelson.
According to Mickelson, consumers can find leftover inventory from previous years at the show. He says rebates, discounts and even free gas are being offered to move the inventory.
The crowd, smaller than usual, may be unwilling to dive in despite the deals. Darren Martinez, of Red Bank, attended the show just to browse.
?It?s a reflection of the economy ? everybody?s scared and not looking to spend their money frivolously on boats,? says Martinez.
