A 64-year-old Somerset man died Friday morning after being ejected from an autocycle during a three-vehicle crash on Route 130, police said.

South Brunswick police responded to the crash at Route 130 and Melrich Road at approximately 6:45 a.m.

Officers found the man had been ejected from his 2020 Spyder autocycle. Police and emergency medical personnel performed lifesaving efforts before he was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he later died.

An investigation determined the man had been traveling south on Route 130 when a 58-year-old Freehold man driving a 2024 Kia SUV north on Route 130 attempted to make a left turn onto Melrich Road.

Police said the autocycle struck the passenger side of the Kia, overturned, and then struck a 2026 Honda Odyssey that was stopped at a stop sign on Melrich Road.

Following the initial impact, the autocycle operator was ejected from the vehicle, authorities said.

Two other people involved in the crash reported pain and were transported to Penn Medicine at Princeton for treatment.

Parts of Route 130 were closed for approximately four hours while investigators processed the scene. No charges have been filed, police said.
