Every dollar in sales at every Jersey Mike's from coast to coast Wednesday will go to charity. This year, the New Jersey sub shop is highlighting the Special Olympics.
Jersey Mike's, a staple in the sub industry for 66 years, is sponsoring this summer's Special Olympics nationals in Orlando. The sub chain also designated the charity for today's 12th annual Day of Giving.
“We prepare for this all year long, all month long,” says Jersey Mike's Vice President Caroline Jones. “Today is our day, 100% of sales from every single Jersey Mike's goes to the USA Special Olympics games.”
Jersey Mike's was trying to beat last year's record of $15 million in charitable sales.
“The amount they are going to be able to raise to help the special Olympics, it's just truly inspiring,” says Point Pleasant Beach Mayor Paul Kanitra.
The Day of Giving has collectively raised more than $47 million for charities in its 12-year history.
