The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Lyme disease is on the rise and spreading quickly.
State officials are working to raise awareness.
According to data from 2017, New Jersey ranks number seven around the U.S. among "high-incidence states," and number three in reported cases, with more than 3,600.
A report released Wednesday says the disease has steadily increased over the last 25 years.
