The confirmation is the first time the jellyfish has been found that far south in New Jersey.
The species of jellyfish can be as small as a dime -- or as large as a quarter.
It has a powerful sting, causing severe pain. In some cases, patients can be hospitalized.
The jellyfish were first confirmed in New Jersey back in 2016.
Since then, they have been spotted in the Barnegat Bay and Shrewsbury River.
