A cold front is moving through the Hudson Valley today, bringing big changes along the way. Gone are the warm, Spring-like days from earlier this week as we see temperatures going down through the day. Rain showers and patchy fog will be a concern for the morning rush with visibility being lowered at times to less than a mile. Take it slow on those roads, especially in the valleys and going over bridges. As the showers come down, the roads may be wet and slick.

By the midday hours, temperatures will cool down to the point we see that rain changing over to a wintry mix to slushy snow. This will make the roadways become even more slick than earlier in the day, especially on the side streets and on and off ramps of the highways. Going through the afternoon hours, snow may still be falling. Accumulations are likely not to add to more than a slushy coating to an inch. This will likely occur on grassy surfaces and less traveled roads. The highways will likely be slick & slushy.

Before you step out the door, prepare to break out the winter coats again. While it may feel mild in the morning, it will feel colder later today. Temperatures will go down from the upper 50s to the low 30s through the day. Gusty winds this afternoon will make the temperatures feel even colder.

Friday has breezy winds with a mix of sun and clouds. Temperatures will move towards seasonal levels (normal high is 46 degrees) but will feel cooler with the winds. Over the weekend, winds will linger, but we'll be mainly dry. From Sunday night into Monday, a large system approaches the region. We can expect rain and gusty winds for Monday, with mild temps along the way. St. Patrick's Day, on Tuesday, will be colder with drier conditions.
