An apologetic robber told a Jersey City convenience store clerk Wednesday that he was "really sorry" he had to rip the business off.
The thief made off with $300 cash, $300 in lottery tickets and $1,700 worth of cigarettes from the Express Food Mart on Grand Street and Johnston Avenue. As the clerk was held at gunpoint, the suspect explained that he didn't want to rob the store, but really needed the money.
Police are reviewing surveillance video of the entire incident to see if it's connected to other robberies in Jersey City.
