Crews have removed a New Jersey Transit train that crashed into Hoboken Terminal last week, killing a woman and injuring over 100 others.
The damaged three-car Pascack Valley Line train will be taken to a NJ Transit maintenance yard so that federal authorities can continue the investigation into why the train crashed.
National Transportation Safety Board officials were able to determine that the train was traveling more than twice the speed limit when it arrived at the station.
The speed limit for the station area is 10 mph. Officials say the train was traveling at 8 mph and sped up for about 30 seconds before hitting 21 mph.
The details were taken from the train's data recorder that was recovered earlier this week.
A final report on what caused the crash could take a year or longer to complete.
