A Stratford woman was killed in one-vehicle crash on I-95 in Milford Sunday, state police say.

It happened just before 10:30 p.m. and was adjacent to the Milford Service Plaza.

Police say Catherine Palaia was traveling south on I-95 south when a tire from another vehicle bounced over the concrete jersey barrier and hit her front windshield and the roof of her vehicle.

Palaia then veered right and crossed all lanes and ricocheted off the metal beam guardrail in the right shoulder. She then veered to the left and landed in the center median.

It's not clear what caused the tire from the other vehicle to bounce over the median.

The crash caused I-95 north to be temporarily shut down between exits 40 and 41 in Milford Monday morning.

Officials also closed I-95 south in Orange between exits 41 and 40, along with the southbound on-ramp at Exit 41.

All lanes were closed for seven hours but reopened Monday.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 203-696-2500.
