The
Cranford Theater officially reopened to the public Friday, with all new renovations, after it closed suddenly back in September.
Officials held a red carpet grand opening party Thursday night to celebrate.
The theater closed suddenly in September after the operator left in the middle of the night, leaving the town without a theater for the first time in over 93 years.
Soon after the closing, the owner of the actual theater property decided to do a complete renovation.
"Certainly, the marquee, it's great to see it back on it's a big red Cranford as you drive into town, it's a hallmark of our downtown and it's really important to have them reopen," says Mayor Patrick Giblin.
Renovations for the theater include new seats and a concession stand.
The film selection will include major blockbuster movies, along with special events and artistic pictures.
