Authorities in Bergen County say that the coyote responsible for attacking a man in Saddle River this week has tested positive for rabies.
Following the attack, the victim started post-exposure vaccination. The coyote was captured and euthanized. Six dead pups were later found in its den.
The acting mayor is urging residents to not leave small children or pets unattended while outdoors.
Authorities are now searching for any potential mates or additional offspring of the rabid coyote.
