A three-alarm fire destroyed a home in Hawthorne Wednesday, authorities say.

After Marilyn Zagra and her husband saw smoke coming from a wall, they escaped their home of 60 years.

Their cat was badly burnt but is expected to recover.

In Hawthorne, this was the fifth major house that was on fire.

The fire chief reports that the fire does not appear suspicious.
