The floodwaters have receded in Lambertville, but the costly cleanup is just getting started.

The town has been flooded three times over the past 18 months. About 400 residents had to evacuate after the most recent flooding. David Wintermute is cleaning up damage to his Swan Street house, which he was raised in. Wintermute says while insurance will cover much of the costs, it doesn?t cover the physical and mental stress he goes through with each flood.

Lambertville?s mayor estimates police overtime and cleanup will add up to $100,000 to the town?s budget. Engineers are also assessing damage to the bridge that connects Lambertville to New Hope, Pennsylvania. Lambertville officials say if they don?t get federal aid, the town?s 3,800 residents will unfortunately have to foot the bill.
