Homeowners across New Jersey are hopeful that governor-elect Jon Corzine will be able to provide them with property tax relief.
Experts say property taxes throughout the state have soared 29 percent in the last four years. One-sixth of the communities in the state saw an increase of more than 10 percent in 2005. Residents hope that Corzine will be able to succeed where his predecessors have failed.
Corzine, who will be sworn in Tuesday, has said he wants to call for a special session of the legislature to find a permanent solution to the property tax problem.
