Gov. Jon Corzine signed a package of bills Wednesday relating to autism and the thousands of families it affects.
Corzine signed seven bills into law designed to help those with autism achieve success in their lives. Some of the bills include measures to improve early autism detection, extend funding for research and treatment, create a panel to study the needs of autistic adults and create a statewide autism registry.
One of the bills is designed to specifically help adults with autism so they don?t end up back with their families once they age out of the school system. Another bill will create a pilot program in relation to a milder form of autism called Asperger?s Syndrome. The program will provide educational, social and job training services.
