Governor Corzine (D-NJ) returned from a surprise visit to New Jersey troops serving in the Middle East, calling conditions in Iraq increasingly unstable and dangerous.Corzine?s week-long trip began Monday with a briefing in the Pentagon. The governor then made stops in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait where he visited the more than 200 National Guards from New Jersey. Corzine also met with military officials and military men and women from the Garden State. He presented New Jersey soldiers with Purple Heart and combat awards during a ceremony.In the end, Corzine applauded the efforts of U.S. troops, but says growing security problems in Iraq may require sending more troops to the region.
