Newark police released a picture Monday of the van suspected of killing a girl in a hit-and-run.
Flowers, stuffed animals and a note paid tribute to 11-year-old Kaitlyn Velez on the spot where she was killed Sunday during the Portugal Day festival. Velez, who was from Pennsylvania, was visiting her aunt and uncle in Newark.
Her uncle, who declined to be interviewed on camera, wants the person who killed his niece to pay. "Like I said before," he said, "I hope he fries."
A photo taken by a surveillance camera at St. James Hospital shows a blue Econoline van with the word "construction" written on the side. The driver remains unidentified and on the loose, but police said they hope the van's picture helps find the person.
