The skinny on the forecast is another week with a whole lot of nothing going on. We need rain. In the last two weeks, just a trace has collected in our rain gauges. During the entire month of September, less than 1 inch of rain was measured at Newark Liberty. Sunshine is great, but it would be good to get some measurable rain to help alleviate the growing dry conditions.
There were gusty winds today with a storm passing through the region. It was cold enough to support the first snow of the season in the higher terrain of the Adirondacks of upstate, New York. Winds have been frequently gusting to 25 and 30 mph making it feel colder but also dragging in colder air for the next few days.

With fair weather anchored over the region, sunshine wins out. Daily highs for the next few days will be on the cool side of seasonable. Temperatures will be in the 50s (66 is the norm).
Drought conditions continue to get worse for New Jersey, with 87% of the state being abnormally dry. Over 25% is in moderate drought conditions, and approximately 5% is in severe drought. There is no rain in the forecast over the next 10 or more days, so we could be looking at a record stretch of dry weather for the area.
