Cool starts and warm afternoons, but not much rain to talk about

The lack of rain could be a problem as the drought continues to expand through New Jersey.

It's about as boring as boring gets for a forecaster the next few days. Aside from coastal areas seeing an increase in clouds and a few scattered showers for the shore, the forecast is quiet.
Morning temperatures will be on the chillier side. Northern areas will drop to the mid- and upper 40s. The rest of the state will wake up with mid- to upper 50s (63 degrees is a normal wake-up temperature for this time of year).
There is plenty of sunshine courtesy of a double-barreled high-pressure system in New England and the Great Lakes. This will help keep skies clear and push cooler Canadian air in our direction.
Just two weeks until the sun is directly over the equator heading towards the southern hemisphere. The forecast couldn't be any more seasonal than that.
Tonight: Chilly and clear, with temps around 56.
Tuesday: Sunny and fantastic. Highs around 75.
Wednesday: The weather is iffy. Coastal storm stays mainly offshore but brings cooler winds through the state. On-and-off showers along the coast, but nothing meaningful or really measurable. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s.
Thursday: Sun and clouds and a nice warmup. Back to the 80s.
