Convict who escaped halfway house in Mount Laurel captured

A convicted attempted murderer who escaped a halfway house in Mount Laurel has been captured.

New Jersey Department of Corrections Special Investigation Division apprehended Edward Berbon, 54, Friday in Camden after he failed to report to a residential community release program.

Police say Berbon never returned from his job over the weekend.

Berbon served 18 years of his sentence and was scheduled to be released in February, according to police.
